Primary Responsibilities – Sports Supervisor
The New Haven Counts Sports Supervisor plays a key leadership role at their assigned school site, responsible for the smooth execution of sports programs and ensuring a safe, positive, and developmental environment for players and coaches.
1. Site Management & Safety
- Prepare and maintain the playing area, ensuring it is safe and ready for activity.
- Manage all program equipment, including distribution, collection, and storage.
- Oversee daily sign-in/sign-out procedures and ensure player safety at all times.
2. Coach & Player Support
- Assist head coaches with practice plans and drills.
- Ensure all players are actively engaged, supported, and demonstrating good sportsmanship.
- Provide in-the-moment feedback and encouragement to coaches and players.
3. Game Day Operations
- Coordinate game day logistics, including schedules, transportation, and setup.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for referees, opposing teams, and parents.
- Uphold league rules and ensure a positive and competitive atmosphere.
4. Communication & Collaboration
- Serve as the liaison between New Haven Counts and school staff during program hours.
- Communicate program updates, schedules, and important information to parents.
- Report issues, successes, or urgent updates to the Program Director immediately.
5. Uphold Program Vision
- Model the values of New Haven Counts: sportsmanship, teamwork, and resilience.
- Ensure each player is seen, supported, and challenged to grow their skills and character.
- Reinforce the connection between athletic focus and personal potential.
