Shooting Technique
Movement Materials

Warm-Up (10 minutes)
- • Dynamic leg stretching and activation (3 minutes)
- • Shooting form demonstration: plant foot, contact point, follow-through (4 minutes)
- • Practice shots from stationary position (3 minutes)
Main Activity: Goal Shooting Challenge (35 minutes)
Setup: Shooting stations at 12, 15, and 18 yards from goal
Skill Focus: Accurate shooting with laces, aiming for corners
Activity Breakdown:
- • Form practice at each distance (10 min)
- • Timed shooting rounds: 3 rounds, 10 shots each (20 min)
- • Math connection: Calculate goals made vs. missed (5 min)
Record: Total attempts AND total goals for each round
Cool Down (15 minutes)
- • Static stretching: Hip flexors, quads, groin (5 minutes)
- • Data entry: Record goals and misses (5 minutes)

- • Model subtraction as "taking away" and "finding difference" (6 min)

Guided Practice (20 minutes)
- • Work through subtraction problems using personal shooting data (12 min)

Safety First
Designate shooters and ball retrievers. Never allow students behind goal during shooting.
Time Management
Keep shooting rotations tight. Use multiple goals if available to maximize practice time.
Math Accountability
Students must show subtraction work, not just answers. Check understanding during independent practice.
Common Misconceptions
Students may struggle with "part-whole" thinking. Model explicitly: whole (attempts) - part (made) = other part (missed).
